$25.00
ISBN-13: 9781416551058
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days
Published: Simon & Schuster, 03/01/2009
I've had this book on my shelf for quite some time now with every intention of reading it at some point or other. Never have I picked up a book at a better time. A Homemade Life is the charming memoir/cookbook of he creator of the popular food blog Orangette. Beautifully illustrated by artist Camilla Engman, Wisenberg shares stories about the food that defined her family and shaped who she is today. Luckily for us, she ends each story with the recipe of the dish she so fondly remembers.  -Adriana

The Believers (Hardcover)

By Zoe Heller
$25.99
ISBN-13: 9780061430206
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days
Published: Harper, 03/01/2009
Zoe Heller has written what will certainly be received as one of 2009's best novels. When radical New York lawyer Joel Litvinoff suffers a massive stroke, leaving him in a coma, his family must deal with the aftermath as they discover that he wasn't the man that they thought he was. Beautifully written, Heller brilliantly captures the delicate politics of love, family, and all the messiness that comes from dealing with the ones you love. -Adriana

The Man Who Ate the World: In Search of the Perfect Dinner (Paperback)

By Jay Rayner
$15.00
ISBN-13: 9780805090239
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days
Published: Holt Paperbacks, 05/01/2009
Travel with Rayner as he takes you on a gastronomic adventure of epic proportions. Testing out Mario Batali’s suggestion that Michelin star ratings are primarily a means for wealthy people to have a similar meal anywhere in the world, Rayner journeys to Las Vegas, Moscow, Dubai, Tokyo, New York, London & Paris in search for the perfect meal. In turns hilarious, eye opening and bizarre, Raynor eats more food than we could ever dream of, leaving us to salivate over his leftovers. Not since Bill Buford’s Heat has a food memoir been so entertaining and hard to put down. -Adriana

By Charlaine Harris
$25.95
ISBN-13: 9780441017157

As the ninth installment to the Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood to those of you who watch the popular HBO series), Harris does not disappoint. Sookie’s life is still as complicated as ever. She’s blood bound to the Sheriff of Area 5, a friend of the pack (Werewolf, that is), works for a shifter, and sister of a Werepanther. As if that weren’t enough, she comes face to face with another supernatural entity that will reveal the mystery of her special talent and her parent’s untimely death. In turns hilarious, nailbiting, sexy, and very southern, Harris will have you clamoring for the next installment. A great summer read!!! -Adriana

$29.95

Undoubtedly the best dessert cookbook of the year, Baked delivers one mouthwatering recipe after another. Simple enough for the amateur cook, yet original and daring enough for the more seasoned baker, Lewis and Poliafito have produced a cookbook worth dipping into again and again. Every recipe I've tried has been a success, including their lovely chocolate chip cookies, the easy peasy pumpkin chocolate chip loaf, and their baked bar that was so decadent that it precipitated my husband's visit to our doctor! -Adriana

The Writing Class (Hardcover)

By Jincy Willett
$24.95
ISBN-13: 9780312330668
Availability: Special Order - Subject to Availability
Published: Thomas Dunne Books, 06/01/2008
Published at age 22 to critical but not commercial success, Amy Gallop is now a middle-aged extension-course writing teacher who writes blurbs for other people’s books and whose daily motto is "Kill Me Now". This semester’s class starts out no differently than the rest. There are a sprinkling of potentially good writers as well as the delusional and overeager to please the teacher types. Jolting Amy out of her loner complacency is a scary midnight phone call, a series of lurid items written on class critiques, and the horrific deaths of two students. Amy must now enlist the help of her students, one of whom is the killer, before someone else dies. Darkly funny and a page-turner, Willett has created characters we all recognize in a refreshingly observed and witty way. A great summer read! -Adriana

No One Belongs Here More Than You: Stories (Paperback)

By Miranda July
$14.00
ISBN-13: 9780743299411
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days
Published: Scribner, 05/01/2008
July can now add critically acclaimed author to her long list of accomplishments which includes that of performance artist and director of “You and Me & Everyone We Know.” July’s characters are as beautifully strange as she is and each story unfolds like a scary present. July’s writing is as original as it unnerving. The only part of the book I had a hard time with was that it had an ending. -Adriana

I Was Told There'd Be Cake (Paperback)

By Sloane Crosley
$14.00
ISBN-13: 9781594483066
Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days
Published: Riverhead Trade, 04/01/2008
This is the tale of a single girl in New York, and she is definitely not Carrie Bradshaw. In her first collection of essays, Crosley recounts her obsession with plastic ponies, romanticizing the idea of a one-night stand, and the awkwardness of growing up with a name made famous by Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Funny, irreverent and sardonic, I can’t wait for her next collection. -Adriana
